WHAT IS MUAY THAI?
Muay Thai Kickboxing has long been hailed as a brutally effective self-defense art. It is Thailand's national sport. Kicks are performed with the shin instead of the foot. The Thais also include strong knee and elbow strikes in their repertoire along with western boxing techniques. Muay Thai is a highly valued form of calorie-burning and muscle-toning exercise. Students gain muscle tone and flexibility and lose fat while learning real kickboxing techniques and training methods. We emphasize proper form and body mechanics for each of the striking tools, including kicks, knees, elbows and punches. Students use that knowledge to expand their skills into offensive striking combinations, proven defensive skills and finally, sparring drills.
